When Martin Hibbert
left school he found himself a job as an apprentice
with a local trimmer. After he qualified and,
being as he was a smart cookie, he quickly realised
there was a niche with his name on it in the trimming
market. He bought himself a small van in which
he would visit manufacturers and purchase small
amounts of materials and supplies. He would then
drive round all the local trimmers and sell his
goods.
Martin very quickly realised that none of the
companies that he was buying from sold absolutely
everything a trimmer would need. Once again, the
ideas factory kicked in. He purchased premises
in Middlewich and started employing staff to sell
absolutely everything that a trimmer could need.
Not satisfied with this, he also set up his own
trim shop and employed a professional trimmer.
From then on in the company went from strength
to strength until tragedy hit in May of 1998 when
a major fire destroyed the premises and all the
products. Some of the materials destroyed were
20 years old and, by then, irreplaceable classics
of their type.
How do you recover from such devastation?
Well, as you might imagine, with lots of hard
work and determination. Everyone pitched in, every
member of staff; the whole family and lots of
friends began working from home. Within 6 weeks
the company had moved to temporary premises. They
were back up and running. Once again the future
was filled with hope.
Martin had always dreamed that his son Josh would
follow him into the business; this dream has now
come to fruition.
Josh has brought with him some unique qualities
as well as youth, determination and hope.
The future is now
